Notes

  • Birthplace listed as Hanover in 1860; Hanover was annexed by Prussia in 1866, which might explain why subsequent censuses list Prussia.
  • Note: Veteran-CO K, 17 WI INF. - Tombstone
I can find two Charles S. Rileys in the list of Wisconsin Civil War Veterans. One served in Co. K of the 25th regiment and was listed from Springville, was discharged in 1868 with a disability, the other was in Company C of the 11th. Was he under a different name?
Riley could have been Riele or a variant spelling.
  • Charles was probably Carl? First son was Carl or Karl.
  • Emigrated in 1852, according to 1900 census.
Emigrated in 1851, according to 1910 census.
