Born in 1912 in Basile, Allie Young, also known as Nonc Allie (Uncle Allie), was the contemporary of legendary Cajun musicians such a Joe Falcon, Mayeuse LaFleur, Lawrence Walker, and Moise Robin, all of whom he knew personally. He began learning accordion at the age of eight.

He has recorded records on his own, and played and sang with the Balfa Brothers, The Frugé Family Band, D.L. Menard, and others. His latest band is The Basile Cajun Band
