Buckwheat Zydeco

Buckwheat Zydeco, aka Stanley Joseph Dural Jr., is one of the few modern Zydeco musicians of whom I actually have a couple of albums. Originally from Lafayette, Louisiana, Buckwheat's music is very lively and exciting, like most Zydeco music today.

Buckwheat grew up listening to his father, who played accordion in the Creole style, but he preferred more modern music. After years of having his own band, he became interested in Zydeco music after listening to Clifton Chenier, the King of Zydeco, joined Clifton's band as a keyboard musician, and afterwards started his own band.

Buckwheat's music is very popular, and is what most people think of when they think of music from Louisiana. The lyrics are in French and English, and you really can't go wrong playing one of his CD's at a party.
