Beausoleil, the most well-known Cajun band today, is directly responsible for my interest in Cajun music. I fell in love with their album, Vintage Beausoleil, which contains a lot of traditional Cajun songs, which I prefer.
Beausoleil is known for mixing traditional Cajun music with other styles of music, incorporating instruments such as the banjo, electric guitar, bass, piano, and others that are not traditionally found in Cajun music. This is commendable, and no doubt has driven interest in Cajun music.
For someone who enjoys traditional Cajun music, like myself, Vintage Beausoleil, Parlez-Nous a Boire, and Allons a Lafayette are the albums that you will probably enjoy most, but Beausoleil always includes some great traditional numbers on all of their albums, so I must admit that I enjoy all of their albums.
